Research In Motion Ltd.’s executive in charge of global sales has left the company to pursue “a leadership position in a different industry,” the company said Thursday. Patrick Spence, who held various roles with the company over 14 years, was promoted last August to the position of senior vice-president and managing director of global sales and regional marketing, according to his LinkedIn page. He was most recently based out of the company’s office in Slough, U.K., the page says. A RIM spokeswoman confirmed he left the company in an emailed statement to the Canadian Press Thursday. “Patrick will be taking on a leadership position in a different industry,” Tenille Kennedy, told CP. Jim Balsillie, the company’s former co-CEO, left the company at the end of March. Jim Rowan, chief operating officer, and David Yach, chief technology officer, also left the company at that time, RIM said.
