CBC/Radio-Canada’s Newfoundland-based drama Republic of Doyle now airs in nearly 100 countries, the Canadian Screenwriter magazine reported in its Fall 2012-Winter 2013 issue. The article said the show, which follows a father-and-son private investigator team in St. John’s, N.L., averages about one million viewers per episode on CBC Television and is "bringing Newfoundland to the world, airing in nearly one hundred countries." The magazine is published by the Writers Guild of Canada. According to a CBC release dated Jan. 13, 2012, Republic of Doyle recorded its largest season premiere on Jan. 12, reaching more than 1.3 million viewers for the debut of season three. CBC said in the release that the number of viewers increased 22 per cent from the second season premiere. The popular drama is scheduled to return in January 2013 for a fourth season.
