The CRTC approved three AM radio stations' conversions to the FM band in Thompson, The Pas and Flin Flon, Man. In three separate decisions Tuesday, the commission approved applications from Arctic Radio Ltd. to convert AM stations CHTM in Thompson, CJAR-AM in The Pas and CFAR-AM in Flin Flon to the FM band. In its decision for CHTM, the CRTC said Arctic Radio plans to maintain CHTM’s adult contemporary music format and target listeners aged between 25 and 34. Both CJAR and CFAR, the commission said, requested the conversion to rebroadcast CHTM’s new FM programming. In the decision for CJAR, the CRTC said the new FM station would broadcast at the 102.9 MHz frequency, and CFAR would operate on the same frequency, the commission said. All three licences expire Aug. 31, 2019.
