Delay Bell-Astral merger, Mezei urges

BCE Inc.’s proposed $3.38-billion purchase of Astral Media Inc. will re-enforce an old broadcast model, with content behind a “walled garden,” as a rising number of Canadians cut their cords to “escape from the old and costly broadcasting system,” independent consultant Jean-Francois Mezei told a panel of CRTC commissioners.
