Ontario-based wireless commercialization and research centre Wavefront and the Communitech Hub incubation centre reached a new collaboration agreement. In a release on Tuesday, Wavefront said financial support available through the National Research Council’s Industrial Research Assistance Program would lead to the offering of advisory, mentorship, mobile application and testing service programs through Communitech. The NRC program allows startup companies to further their research without having to invest in or build their own facilities and conduct research at an existing facility or university or college. “As part of this collaboration, Wavefront and Communitech will offer joint events and training programs covering the latest wireless technologies and business opportunities,” the release said. As a result of the agreement, Wavefront said Communitech would gain access to its Machine to Machine (M2M) Accelerator program through which Deutsche Telekom AG, Rogers Communications Inc. and Sierra Wireless Inc. provide training, tools and resources.
