DHX Media Inc. announced Wednesday it has signed a deal with Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. to provide more than 2,500 half-hours of content to its video-on-demand (VOD) service in China. “We are very happy to provide extensive kids and family content from our library for this new service in China. This deal underscores our position as a go-to distributor for on-demand services globally,” Josh Scherba, senior vice-president of distribution at DHX, said in a press release. The partnership includes the distribution of popular titles such as Teletubbies, Caillou, Paddington Bear, Super Why, Rastamouse, Johnny Test and Martha Speaks, DHX said in the release. It also noted that Alibaba’s VOD service is available on its Tmall Box, a content-delivery set-top box, devices that allow customers to watch over-the-top (OTT) content and on various smart televisions in China.
