Rogers Communications Inc. said it will buy an Alberta radio station after coming to an agreement with Clear Sky Radio Inc. to acquire the licence of the station. The Medicine Hat classic hits music station CJCY-FM at 102.1 also services communities including Redcliff, Dunmore, Seven Persons and Bow Island. The CRTC must still approve the deal, but closing is expected in the coming months, a Tuesday press release said. "CJCY has earned a strong local listener base in the community, and we're excited to have the opportunity to build on the station's legacy and continue its success," Julie Adam, senior vice-president of Rogers Radio said in the release, adding the acquisition compliments its existing local station 105.3 Rock. Rogers said it will have 55 stations across the country after the deal.
