Innovation Minister Navdeep Bains’ chief of staff Gianluca Cairo is leaving Parliament Hill to work for human resources software company Ceridian HCH Inc. “My time at Innovation, Science and Economic Development under Minister Bains has been particularly special for a couple of reasons. First, having a chance to play an integral role in developing and implementing economic policies to spur innovation and growth in new and traditional industries,” Cairo said in a post on Facebook. “Secondly, working for Minister Bains, someone whom I consider to be a friend and mentor, has been nothing short of incredible. I first met him in 2006 when I was last in Ottawa. It’s hard to find another politician more focused on his files, appreciated by his staff, or more politically savvy.” Cairo, who has been Bains’ chief of staff since 2017 -- a position in which he was often the subject of telecom industry lobbying -- said in the post he will start his new job at Ceridian in August.
