OPINION: Canada’s spectrum framework is failing Indigenous peoples

In its recently released five-year Spectrum Outlook 2023 to 2027, the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development (ISED) makes several commitments to Indigenous Peoples. The Spectrum Outlook outlines ISED’s overall approach to managing radio-spectrum over the next five years. This plan could provide Canada an opportunity to demonstrate a genuine commitment to reconciliation and to implementing the principles of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People (UNDRIP).
