Northern communities are being ill-served by Meta Platforms Inc.’s decision to block news coverage on Facebook and Instagram, the Senate was told Tuesday. Marty Klyne of the Progressive Senators Group said that CBC/Radio-Canada CEO Catherine Tait had written to Meta saying that the recent wildfires in the north made Facebook updates essential.
