Isabelle Courville has stepped down as president of Bell Canada’s enterprise group. Courville has led a number of important initiatives at Bell including leading the integration of Télébec and NorthernTel while she was president and CEO of the Bell Nordiq Group. She also spearheaded the creation of the Bell Nordiq Income Fund, the first of its kind in the Canadian telecommunications industry. Since being named president of the enterprise group in 2003, Courville and her team have repositioned the business as a Canadian ICT leader. In a news release announcing Courville’s departure, Bell Canada CEO Michael Sabia said the company is looking forward to continuing its association with Courville. Axia NetMedia Corp. has appointed Geoff Thompson as president of the corporation effective August 15. Thompson has experience in markets all around the world and has successfully developed and led three international technology businesses, most recently as president and CEO of Control-F1 Corp. He is replacing outgoing president Murray Wallace, who will resume his role as an advisor to the company on strategic and acquisition activities. Thompson will be based in Calgary. Ottawa-based Enablence Technologies Inc. has announced that Jozef Straus has become a strategic advisor to the corporation. Straus is the former CEO and co-chairman of JDS Uniphase Corp. In 1981, he founded JDS Fitel, where he served as president and CEO until it merged with Uniphase Corp. in 1999. He has numerous patents, publications and invited presentations to his credit, and currently serves as the co-chairman of the Ottawa Hospital’s Legacy Campaign. Enablence’s products are used in optical modems located inside consumers’ homes for the delivery of high-speed data, voice and video. The world’s largest provider of broadband technology solutions to the hospitality industry Guest-Tek Interactive Entertainment Ltd. has appointed Stephen Verhoeff and Naohiro Sato to its board of directors. Verhoeff most recently served as founder, president and CEO of CSI Wirless Inc. where he oversaw all aspects of the company’s operations including marketing, financial reporting, manufacturing, engineering and administration. Prior to founding CSI, Verhoeff was co-founder and president of Network Innovations Inc. Sato is currently an executive advisor at M.P. Technologies Inc. Previous to that he served in various sales, brand management, distribution and strategic alliance capacities with IBM Japan Ltd. Darryl Edwards has been named Nortel’s president of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Edwards, who has been with Nortel for 14 years, was most recently the company’s president of Northern Europe, Middle East and NETAS, Nortel’s joint venture in Turkey. He has also served as CEO of Nortel Israel and of Nortel Networks Germany. Prior to that, Edwards spent 13 years at GPT. He is replacing Steve Pusey who is leaving the company to join Vodafone Group Plc as its CTO. Daniel Stanzione has been re-elected to the board of directors at Avaya Inc. Stanzione is president emeritus at Bell Laboratories as well as an independent consultant. After a 22-year career as a software scientist and business manager, he became the president of Bell Laboratories, a position he held from 1995 to 1997. He also served as COO of Lucent Technologies from 1997 to 2000. Stanzione was a member of the board at Avaya from 2000 until his term expired at the company’s annual meeting in February 2006. Ryuzo Nakazumi has resigned from the board to make room for the new appointments. Guest-Tek is headquartered in Calgary.
