Sprint Canada has made two new appointments in the boardroom. Duncan McEwan is the new president/CEO. He was most recently CEO of NorthPoint Canada, which is now owned by Sprint parent Call-Net Enterprises Inc. He also has experience at Cancom as president/CEO. The new president enterprise communications solutions is Greg McCamus. He has worked as senior VP new product development at Sprint and senior VP sales and marketing for NorthPoint Canada. Scott Allen is now CFO of Total Telcom Inc of Edmonton. He will fill this role as part of the Ellis Govenlock team handling accounting services for the fibre builder. Director of finance Dennis Rendflesh has left Total Telcom. There are two women heading for the executive suites at Bell Globemedia. Lib Gibson is now president/CEO of the interactive division. She served in a similar role at Globe Interactive, a predecessor company, and has worked at WorldLinx and Bell Canada. Elizabeth Duffy-MacLean is the new group VP, regulatory affairs and policy strategy. She has worked for CTV Inc, NetStar Communications, and the Ontario government. André Gauthier is the new CFO of Telesystem International Wireless Inc. He has worked for the company since 1994, serving as controller and VP finance and treasurer. He replaces Jean-Pierre De Montigny, who has returned to investment banking. Look Communications Inc has made several changes. David Parkes is stepping down as president/CEO, although he will remain on the board of directors. His duties are being handled in the interim by chair Michael Cytrynbaum. Louis Villeneuve assumes the role of COO in addition to his position as CFO of the carrier. Barry Bunin has been named VP network implementation for Teleglobe. He is a 30-year veteran of the telecom sector, including stints at AT&T Bell Laboratories, AT&T and Ultrapro International Inc. Canada Payphone Corp of Vancouver has appointed Bruce Hill as director of national operations on an interim basis. He replaces Steve Niven, who has resigned but will continue to be an independent consultant with the firm. The newest commissioners on the Federal Communications Commission in Washington have hired members of their staffs. Kathleen Abernathy has named Ann Monahan as her confidential assistant, Tjuana Price as staff assistant and Bryan Tramont as senior legal advisor. Monahan arrives from the legal and government affairs division of Broadband Office Inc. Price worked for former commissioner Susan Ness, while Tramont served under past commissioner Harold Furchtgott-Roth. Michael Copps has appointed Jordan Goldstein as interim senior legal advisor, Susan Zwerling as interim legal advisor for mass media and cable and Lauren Maxim Van Wazer as interim legal advisor for wireless and international issues. All three are veterans of the FCC, with Goldstein having worked for Ness and the other two serving in the commission bureaus.
