BCE marries speed and content to take lead over other Internet portals, new study finds

News | May 23, 2000

BCE Inc is leading other telecom, cable and publishing companies in the race to establish Internet portals that offer compelling content over high bandwidth networks, according to a new report by The Yankee Group in Canada. Released in April, All Aboard!: Last Call for Portal Partners says BCE's Sympatico jumped ahead of other portals earlier this year when it announced plans to purchase CTV Inc. Marrying this content with Sympatico's high-speed DSL service will provide BCE with an access and content advantage over its main rivals, Hollinger-owned Canada. com and Quebecor-owned CANOE.ca, the report predicts.
