Rainer Iraschko has been appointed VP of research at TRLabs, effective January 10, and will be based in Calgary. Iraschko joins the research outfit from Telus Corp. where he was part of the company's technology strategy team focused on optical transport. Iraschko's appointment comes as TRLabs undertakes a number of initiatives aimed at meeting the changing needs and new opportunities in the market. He will also play a critical leadership role and strive to provide intellectual property management adjustments, commercialization mechanisms and initiatives, and expansion of both subscribed and short-term technology development project activity. Ian Roane has been appointed GM of the audio and wireless products division at Gennum Corp. He will assume all responsibilities for the division including marketing and research and development. Roane has extensive experience in the area of R&D in the semiconductor arena, having held positions at National Semiconductor, Novatel and Nortel Networks. Most recently, he was VP of engineering and COO at RF Odyssey, a fables semiconductor company focused on developing RF integrated circuits for the broadband wireless access market. Wi-LAN Inc. has bolstered its management team, announcing that Steve Bower has joined the Ottawa-based firm as full-time CFO after acting in the position for about nine months. He has more than 25 years experience in all areas of finance. Bower played a key role in helping the company complete three rounds of financing, raising a total of $46 million. He was previously CFO of SiGe Semiconductor Inc. a fabless semiconductor company. Michael Brennan has joined iBwave as VP of sales. The appointment was effective January 3. With more than 16 years experience in the telecommunications industry at such companies as Ericsson and AT&T, he is an accomplished sales executive and will serve the in-building wireless design software firm well. When Brennan was at Ericsson, he was critical in enabling Fido - now part of Rogers Communications - to launch its network. "His extensive sales, partner and strategic business experience, combined with a strong focus on fiscal performance and customer retention make an ideal leader for our multi-national sales organization," iBwave president Mario Bouchard said in a news release. Bluestreak Networks Inc. has announced the appointment of Martin Carrier as VP of marketing and communications. Carrier was formerly with Ubisoft Canada where he was VP of communications and corporate affairs. "His work experience in North America and Europe, combined with his knowledge of fast-growing technology companies and his proven leadership, will be a huge plus as Bluestreak continues its rapid rate of growth," Bluestreak CEO Paul Forostowsky said in a news release. "We count on his expertise to help Bluestreak and its products shine internationally." Vincent Schiralli, president and COO of Intrinsyc Software International Inc., has announced his retirement effective March 2007. A 38-year veteran of the telecommunications industry, he joined the company in April 2003 and for most of his tenure was responsible for day-to-day operations of Intrinsyc. "My decision comes at a time when Intrinsyc is well-positioned to win in the feature phone market. We have the right strategy to success and a strong management team under the leadership of Glenda Dorchak to deliver on that strategy," Schiralli said in a news release. "The time is right for Intrinsyc to make the transition to the next generation of leadership." Derek Warburton has been appointed VP of sales for TenDigits Software Inc where he will be responsible for developing and executing on the company's sales strategy, including growing and managing the sales teams. He has 18 years experience in sales and senior management in the technology sector, and most notably spent many years driving growth at ACL Services Ltd. Digital Dispatch Systems Inc. has announced the appointment of Sal Visca to the board of directors. He is currently CTO of Business Objects and has held similar positions at Marqui and Infowave Software Inc. Roger Rusch has resigned from the board of directors of Com Dev International Ltd. to devote more time to his family and consulting business. Company chair of the board Keith Ainsworth noted in a news release that Rusch's knowledge of the global space sector has been invaluable over the past few years.
