Waterloo ON-based Research In Motion Ltd. (RIM) is a scrapper, not only in the mobile data-device arena, but also in the courts. The firm has fought a number of companies over the past five years or so: on the product front, Palm Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Co. count as some serious contenders for the portable computing crown – headgear RIM wears thanks to its popular BlackBerry email device.
