James Moore named UNBC chancellor

The University of Northern British Columbia said Thursday that former industry minister James Moore has been named its next chancellor. The Prince George, B.C.-based school said in a press release that Moore, who was industry minister for the Conservative government from 2013 until the new Liberal government was elected this year, and heritage minister between 2008 and 2013, will be sworn in as chancellor in May.  Moore did not run for re-election in this year's federal election. The position makes him the ceremonial head of the school, with responsibilities that include handing out degrees at annual convocation ceremonies. The UNBC said Moore graduated from the school with a bachelor's degree in political science in 2001.
