Firefox OS launches on phones in Spain

Free software group Mozilla, best known for the open source web browser Firefox, launched the Firefox OS mobile platform on devices in Spain. “Today, I’m thrilled to report that Firefox OS phones go on sale in less than a day in Spain, with other launches to follow,” Brendan Eich, chief technology officer at Mozilla, said in a blog post Monday. The Firefox OS phones will launch first on devices carried by Deutsche Telekom AG and Telefonica SA that are manufactured by Alcatel Lucent SA and ZTE Corp.
