Intven retires as McCarthy partner

Hank Intven has retired from his position as a partner at McCarthy Tétrault, and as head of the firm’s communications practice group. In an emailed statement Monday, Intven said he will continue to serve as a counsel for the firm—working out of Victoria, Vancouver and Toronto—while taking on an adjunct professor position at the University of Victoria’s Faculty of Law. He will also continue on as a director of several companies, he said, including Telesat Canada. A former CRTC executive director of telecommunications, Intven was the government’s “main external advisor” during its development of the 1993 Telecommunications Act, and also served as a member of the government’s 2006 Telecommunications Policy Review Panel, according to...
