The CRTC said Tuesday that CJON-DT, a television station in St. John’s, N.L., operating under the brand NTV, has been approved to receive support from the Small Market Local Production Fund (SMLPF). The CRTC noted that, in its application, the station’s owners, Newfoundland Broadcasting Co. Ltd., said it previously could not receive SMLPF funding because it served a market with a population of more than 300,000 people.
