ISED pays Quebec fire station over spectrum issue

Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) paid out a $1,040 settlement to reimburse a Quebec First Nation after radio interference stemming from a spectrum management issue caused it to reprogram its equipment, according to the department and documents tabled in Parliament this fall. Orizon Mobile Inc., which rents and maintains public safety telecom equipment in Quebec, had reprogrammed the equipment for the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake fire department after it experienced interference with another land mobile radio operator on its radio frequencies in 2017.
