CRTC orders Videotron to keep offering gigabit internet

The CRTC has told Quebecor Inc.’s Videotron it can’t withdraw its gigabit internet offering from the market, after the company did exactly that earlier this month. Videotron told the CRTC on Oct. 11 that it was shutting down the service for both retail and wholesale customers, and filed new wholesale tariffs reflecting the change.  In its reply, the regulator said companies must give 60 days notice when withdrawing a service, and said Videotron was free to file another tariff notice doing so. “Vidéotron is reminded that, until such time as the Commission renders a decision...
