The CRTC on Thursday denied an application by Radio Markham York Inc. for a new transmitter for its CFMS-FM Markham station in nearby Aurora, Ont. In its decision, the regulator said the new transmitter would “significantly expand” the coverage areas of the radio station beyond its original licence and the company had not demonstrated that it was economically necessary for it to reach a wider audience.
