Eric Baptiste, CEO of the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) has left the organization, effective immediately. “With the end of the current CEO contract approaching, Eric thought it was time to move on and a mutual decision was reached with the Board to end his tenure now,” SOCAN said in a press release. Senior vice-president of operation and reproduction rights Jennifer Brown will serve as interim CEO while the organization finds Baptiste’s replacement. SOCAN handles performing and mechanical rights royalties for songwriters, composers, music publishers and visual artists.
