CRTC denies new radio licence in Cobalt, Ont.

The CRTC said Thursday that it had denied a licence for a new commercial radio station in Cobalt, Ont., a town about 500 kilometres north of Toronto, because of the effect it could have on another radio station in the area. The application was made by Allan F. Marshall on behalf of a yet-to-be-incorporated company for an English-language commercial radio station that would have an adult-variety music format aimed at people aged 45 and older.
