Canada has become the world’s sixth-largest market for recorded music, according to a new report from the International Federation for the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). The group’s 2017 Global Music Report said digital music revenue made up 63 per cent of the $489.4 million in recorded music revenues in 2016, which increased 18.8 per cent from the previous year, it said in a press release.
