CRTC makes Super Bowl simsub ban official

The CRTC has made official a long-announced policy to ban simultaneous substitution from next year’s broadcast of the Super Bowl. In a distribution order posted Friday, the regulator removed authorization for the practice of substituting American advertisements for Canadian ones during the National Football League (NFL) championship game as of Jan. 1, 2017.
