U.S. version of Mr. D picked up by CBS: report

CBS Corp. has picked up CBC/Radio-Canada sitcom Mr. D and will be creating a U.S.-based version, according to an online report by Postmedia Network. Postmedia reported that Gerry Dee, the creator and star of the show that is based on his career as a Toronto teacher, signed the deal on Thursday. The show will be produced through the production company called Electric Avenue, owned by Canadian actor Will Arnett.   Dee was quoted in the article as saying the transition will be similar to when producers created a U.S. version of the British TV show, The Office....
