More fines in VOIS CCTS non-compliance case

Fines of $25,000 and $5,000 were levied against VOIS Inc. and its director Harpreet Randhawa, respectively, for not rejoining the Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services (CCTS) after being ordered to, according to a CRTC decision posted on Thursday. The Calgary-based telecom has been in the regulator’s doghouse since 2016, when it was kicked out of the CCTS after it failed to follow directions following consumer complaints. CRTC issues first non-telemarketing fine to telecom

A $15,000 fine imposed on VOIS Inc. Thursday marks the first time the CRTC has fined a telecom under the Telecommunications Act for not complying with a regulatory requirement “not related to telemarketing,” the commission said in a press release. The CRTC fined the company for being expelled from the Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunication Services (CCTS).
