Sports broadcaster Esaw dies

Canadian sports broadcaster Johnny Esaw passed away at his home in Toronto on April 7, CTV said Monday. In a statement, Phil King, president of CTV programming and sports at Bell Media, a division of BCE Inc., said the broadcaster is “deeply saddened” by the passing of Esaw, who died at age 87 and was a “true legend” in sports broadcasting. King said Esaw was a pioneer in his field and that his contributions to the CFL, figure skating and the Olympic Games in Canada rank among the finest broadcast leaders in the country. “Although Johnny retired from CTV in 1990, his impact and legacy still resonate with us at CTV, TSN and RDS today,” King said. “He will be truly missed.”...
