Ontario considers privacy overhaul

The Ontario government has launched a public consultation in a bid to improve the province’s privacy protection laws. The consultation will involve an online survey, written submissions and web conference, the Ministry of Government and Consumer services announced on Thursday, and is seeking advice about how to increase transparency for individuals about how their data is being used, enhance consent provisions and introduce a right to erasure and data portability.
