MTS plans network upgrade for six communities

Manitoba Telecom Services Inc. said it will be launching a 4G HSPA+ mobile network in six rural Manitoba communities this year, giving around 4,000 residents wireless speeds that are up to five times faster than their current CDMA network. The communities getting the upgrades are Churchill, Ebb and Flow First Nation, Fisher River First Nation, Snow Lake, Bissett and Middlebro, MTS said in a press release Thursday. “Churchill is thrilled that MTS is making this strategic investment in our community,” Churchill Mayor Michael Spence said in the MTS release. “Having access to...
