Assiniboia, Sask. gets first commercial radio station

The CRTC has granted a radio broadcasting licence for Assiniboia, Sask., which it said in a decision Thursday means the town of of 2,389 people will get its first commercial radio station. It granted the licence to an individual, Steven Huber. The station will operate at 98.1 MHz and “offer a country music format consisting mostly of hits from the past seven years as well as hits from the 90s and 2000s.” It will be targeted at adults between 25 to 54, and “skewed slightly towards women.” The stations’ contours will encompass a larger population, between 4,383 and 8,708...
