‘Real’ 5G coming in 2020: Telus CFO

Parts of Canada will see “real 5G,” as opposed to just trials, by late 2020, Telus Corp.’s chief financial officer Doug French told an investors’ conference Wednesday. Bell partners with Ford on built-in wireless service for cars

BCE Inc. said Thursday it will be the first Canadian telecom to offer built-in wireless service for cars. It said in a press release the service “features a dedicated external antenna, supports up to 10 devices at a time, and is powered by the vehicle's electrical system rather than the device battery.” The company is partnering up with Ford Motor Co. to offer a free wireless data trial, while Bell customers can use data from their existing share plans for an additional $10 a month that also includes a bonus 1 GB of data.
