Ron Crawford, a consultant with RCC Consulting, has registered as a lobbyist for ITS Electronics, a maker of millimeter wave radios and power amplifiers. Crawford will work to secure funding from Technology Partnerships Canada for the firm. The Wireless Innovation Network Society of BC (WINBC) has made changes to its executive and board of directors. The association has elected Caroline Lewko as its president. Todd Heintz from Sierra Wireless, Miko Moilanen of Nokia, Springbank TechVentures’ Barb Richardson, Jerry Sedmak from Omega Wireless Corp., and Sal Visca of Infowave Software have joined the board. Taranjeet Athwal of Microsage Wireless, Bijan Sanii from IDELIX Software, Lisa Shields from Hyperwallet, Colligo Networks’ Mike Blackstock, and Jack Mar from Telos Technology have left the board. Jacques Shore has registered as a lobbyist for D-Wave Systems Inc. Shore, a partner in Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP, will help increase the company’s profile to enhance international trade activity. Brent St. Denis, Liberal MP from Algoma-Manitoulin, was elected chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology on February 16. He has sat on the committee since the first session of Parliament, and has served as Parliamentary Secretary to the ministers of Natural Resources and Transport. St. Denis was first elected to Parliament in 1993. Kirsten Embree has left Osler Hoskin and Harcourt to join Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP. Based in Fraser’s Ottawa office, she will be a partner in the federal regulatory practice group. Embree has been involved in the telecommunications and broadcasting industries for nearly 20 years. She was formerly director of regulatory matters and legal counsel at AT&T Canada Corp., now known as Allstream Inc. Joy Rychik has been appointed VP marketing for Telus Partner Solutions, charged with delivering data, IP, voice and applications for Canadian and global services providers. Rychik joins the company from Allstream where she held a key sales leadership role.
