Ana Rodrigues has been named as sales executive at CHUM Television International. She will be responsible for the sale of CHUM’s programming to broadcasters in Australia, New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. Rodrigues has over 10 years experience in TV sales, business development, integrated marketing and advertising. Most recently, she was a national account executive at Alliance Atlantis in the Synergy group. Brad Schwartz will oversee the MTV business in Canada as general manager and senior VP of MTV Networks International. In his previous position, he was director of international marketing partnerships for MTV. The job change was made in connection with the announcement that MTV had inked a deal with CTV Inc. (CCR Update, Sept. 30/05). Diane Cuthbert has been appointed as a client service and new initiatives executive at Technicolor Creative Services, Toronto. She has over 18 years of film and TV experience. Colin Bettam has been appointed as VP of marketing and sales at Canadian Satellite Radio (CSR). He is responsible for all sales and marketing functions for the newly licensed subscription satellite radio company, including retail and automotive distribution channels. He will also oversee promotion surrounding CSR’s launch and ongoing operations. Most recently, he worked in marketing for Coors Canada. Former Astral Television Networks president and CEO Lisa de Wilde has been tapped to head up TVOntario. She replaces outgoing chair and CEO Isabel Bassett. De Wilde is the new CEO of TVOntario and its French-language counterpart tfo. She has also worked at the CRTC and at the law firm Heenan Blaikie. Last year, de Wilde was shortlisted for the position of Telefilm Canada executive director - a position that went to Wayne Clarkson. The Ontario government separated the chair and CEO positions at TVOntario, naming independent producer Peter O’Brian as chair. Nick Bogias has been named as director of affiliate marketing at Astral Television Networks. He will lead a team in developing strategic affiliate marketing programs for The Movie Network, Family Channel, Mpix and Viewers Choice. He will be responsible for enhancing affiliate customer service, and leveraging technologies, programs and brands to maximize acquisition and retention initiatives. He joins Astral from Pepsi Bottling Group Canada, where he was most recently national business development manager. He worked for 15 years at Pepsi. Louis Fournier has been named as president of Galafilm’s children’s entertainment arm, GalaKids. Previously, Fournier was president of the youth and animation unit at TVA International, and head of distribution at Cinar, which has been reincarnated as Cookie Jar Entertainment. Independent factual distributor Electric Sky has appointed Claudia Weber as sales manager covering territories that include Canada, the United States and Germany. Previously, she worked for EuroArts Music International, where she was the international sales manager responsible for Canada, the United States, Australia and major European territories. Andrew Cole has left the broadcasting distribution business to do public relations for the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. Based in their corporate offices in Toronto, he will be mainly responsible for Asia and the Middle East. He was director of communications at Bell ExpressVu, and most recently worked in communications at Bell Canada, with oversight on ExpressVu. Danielle Dansereau has been named as interim president of the Canadian Television Fund (CTF), with Sandra Macdonald’s appointment in the job ending September 30. Dansereau has been a senior government relations and communications advisor for the CTF for the past year. She has been director of communications and public affairs at Telefilm Canada, and VP of communications and public affairs at Sun Life of Canada. At the CTF, she will support the CTF process to implement the new governance structure announced by Canadian Heritage minister Liza Frulla in June (CCR, June 24/05). As well, after 10 years with the Canadian Television Fund (CTF), director of communications Phil Serruya left his position on September 30. Dan Lyon is the new director for Telefilm Canada’s Feature Film Unit’s Ontario and Nunavut regions. An entertainment lawyer, he joined Astral Bellevue Pathe Inc. in 1985 and ultimately became executive VP of distribution for Astral, and its successor companies Coscient, Motion and TVA. He also had his own production company, Dandelion Entertainment. He replaces Dave Forget, who is now the regional director for Ontario and Nunavut. Lisa Tanzer is now the VP of U.S. marketing for Cookie Jar Entertainment, the entertainment arm of Cookie Jar Group. Also, André Lake Mayer becomes VP of U.S. licensing. The Canadian company is expanding into the United States following the success of the new series The Doodlebops. Jane Taber joins Craig Oliver as co-host of CTV Inc.’s political magazine show Question Period, which airs Sundays at noon. She pens the political notebook for The Globe and Mail.
