Stand up for Canada, not “broadcasting”: McOrmond

Ottawa’s Russell McOrmond is founder of FLORA Community Consulting, owner of the Digital Copyright Canada forum and web site, and a vocal opponent of the focus of the current round of copyright reforms. Last month, he sent the letter below to Canadian Heritage minister Liza Frulla, Industry minister David Emerson, and several other Members of Parliament, as well as the Hill Times and Canadian NEW MEDIA. At the time, the battle to overturn the CRTC’s decision to licence two U.S.-based satellite radio services was raging, and detractors of the CRTC’s move had launched a media blitz to sway Canadians to their cause.
