Nortel forced to sell metro Ethernet networks segment

Nortel Networks has opted to sell its Metro Ethernet business after projecting revenue will again be lower — $2.3 billion in the current third quarter. This is tough news given the traction that Nortel is seeing with its 40G/100G Adaptive Optical Engine, a platform that enables both 40G and 100G transmission on installed 10G networks.
