Fewer phones than expected emergency alert compatible: official

OTTAWA — Those in charge of the wireless emergency alert system overestimated how many Canadians had compatible phones that allow them to receive the alerts, Patrick Tanguy, assistant deputy minister of emergency management and programs at Public Safety Canada said Monday.
