Fighting for a permanent stay of injunction, Vonage Holdings Corp. said a proposed workaround for three disputed Verizon Communications Inc. technology patents won't be ready anytime soon – if at all. The beleaguered VoIP provider reportedly told a US federal court last Friday that although it's researching a workaround, it would take plenty of time to implement the fix – and even then, there are no guarantees that the patch would satisfy the courts or Verizon. Vonage wants the court to permanently stay an injunction blocking it from signing up new customers. The firm is operating under a temporary stay for now, having argued that the injunction should be set aside during the appeal. The court originally imposed the injunction after finding Vonage guilty of infringing Verizon patents for connecting VoIP services to the PSTN.
