Few Canadians using mobile-payment apps: survey

Forty per cent of Canadians are aware of mobile-payment methods, up from 35 per cent a year earlier, but only 10 per cent are using their mobile phones to make payments on a weekly basis, according to survey results released Tuesday by consulting firm Accenture Inc. It said in a press release that in the U.S., Apple Inc.’s Apple Pay is the most popular app to make payments and the lack of mobile payments being made in Canada could be because it has not yet been introduced in Canada.
