CRTC opens consult on Stingray-Newcap, Quebecor-Serdy deals

The CRTC has set Sept. 4 as the deadline for comments in two acquisitions in the broadcasting sector. It opened consultations Friday on the proposed acquisition of Groupe Serdy by Quebecor Inc. and the deal for Stingray Digital Group Inc. to buy Newfoundland Capital Corporation Ltd. Quebecor has proposed to pay $1.79 million in tangible benefits, while Newcap has proposed $31 million. Both deals must receive CRTC approval to go ahead....
