Frédéric Boulanger new ITAC chairman

The Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) said in a press release Friday that Macadamian Technologies president Frédéric Boulanger will be its new chairman of the board, replacing Softchoice president and CEO David MacDonald. “As ITAC’s Chair, Fred will continue to set ambitious targets for continued growth in our industry and ensure we continue our leadership role in advocating for increased digital adoption at all levels of government as well as ensuring the industry remains an exciting career choice for young people in Canada,” ITAC president and CEO Robert Watson said in the release. IBM to build IoT division

International Business Machines (IBM) Corp. said Tuesday it will invest $3 billion US over the next four years to establish an Internet of Things (IoT) unit. It said in a press release it will use its cloud-based platform to help business clients better integrate data from IoT devices and other sources into their decision-making. “Our knowledge of the world grows with every connected sensor and device, but too often we are not acting on it, even when we know we can ensure a better result,” Bob Picciano, senior vice-president of IBM Analytics, said in the release.
