The federal government has declined an application by SouthWestern Integrated Fibre Technology Inc. asking for changes to the CRTC’s rural broadband fund. SWIFT -- a non-profit organization that plans to construct a fibre-optic broadband network across Southwestern Ontario, Caledon and the Niagara Region -- asked the federal government to amend the fund by order-in-council last December.
