Sprint and Best Buy are offering students in the U.S. free talk, text and data service for a year with the purchase of a smartphone. In an joint announcement Monday, the companies said students who buy a smartphone from Sprint at a Best Buy store would get 12 months of unlimited talk, text and one gigabyte of data each month. The announcement said this represents value of $70 US per month, and that unlimited data is available for $10 US a month. Students are also not obligated to sign up for a two-year plan under this offer.
