Government provides $2M to upgrade Internet in Quebec

Industry Canada said Monday that it is providing $2 million to bring faster Internet service to residents in the Quebec region of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. It said in a press release it would provide $2 million to two Internet service providers, Télénet Informatique Inc. and Digicom Internet Sans fil, to connect more than 6,000 homes in the area. The government said the connections will provide download speeds of more than 5 Mbps and be completed by the end of 2017.
