Alberta telecom ‘ignoring’ CCTS

The Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunications Services (CCTS) said in a press release Monday that VOIS! Inc., a small Alberta-based telecommunications company, is continuing to ignore its instructions following a ruling. CCTS said in the release it instructed VOIS to return $208 to a customer in November 2015 following a complaint. The customer was contacted by a collections agency demanding payment of $208 allegedly owed to VOIS. The customer denied owning money, but paid the bill to avoid the possibility of a negative credit report and subsequently complained to the CCTS, the release said. CCTS finds small Alberta telecom breached regulations

The Commissioner for Telecommunications Services (CCTS) said Thursday that VOIS! Inc., an Alberta-based telecom provider, has breached its regulatory obligations towards its customers. CCTS said in a press release that after an investigation in May 2014, launched due to a customer complaint, it recommended VOIS! credit the customer $640 for early termination and late payment fees that were “deemed illegitimate,” following which VOIS! did not respond.
