11th domestic Internet exchange point opens in Moncton

Atlantic Canada is gaining a second Internet exchange point (IXP), in Moncton, N.B., the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) announced in a Wednesday press release. The Moncton hub, “where independent networks can interconnect directly to one another, providing high-bandwidth and low-latency access at a lower cost than traditional transit,” is the 11th in Canada, joining the Halifax, N.S., location on the east coast.
