Uphold net neutrality for free expression: UN report

Net neutrality is a digital pillar in citizens’ right to free expression, according to a report by the United Nations special rapporteur, or independent expert, on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, David Kaye.
The report, which analyzes global instances of suppression of free expression by states and was prepared for the UN Human Rights Council’s June session, notes that individuals rely on digital access to exercise their fundamental rights and explores the “obstacles” that undermine that through digital censorship.
