The United Nations’ International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the intergovernmental body that is responsible for establishing worldwide standards of communication systems, announced Friday it has defined a roadmap for 5G mobile network development. It said in a press release that it has defined the process, goals and the timeline for development of 5G networks, and that it plans to discuss technical requirements of creating a 5G network for optimal performance with a goal of having the new system in place by 2020.
