A Canadian class-action lawsuit is being filed against Amazon.com Inc. for the collection of sales tax on tax-exempt products, the Consumer Law Group announced Monday. In a press release, the law firm with offices in Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal said the action was being launched “on behalf of consumers who purchased certain goods from the online retailer and who were charged sales tax (GST, HST, PST, QST and/or RST) on items where no such sales tax was due under Canadian and/or provincial legislation.” These include products such as basic groceries.
